5 Ways to Improve your Mood

In today's world, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to be better, or do more. We think we should be able to "do it all" and it takes a toll on our personal time, the time that is most important. I am going to share with you the simple things I do every day that help to give myself a little extra "me time" and also help me keep my sanity while I pretend to "do it all".

1. MAKE YOUR BED - This sounds completely silly that something so simple can affect your day, but it's true. Making my bed takes less than 60 seconds and puts me in an instantly better mood. And it keeps me that way throughout the day. When I carry a load of laundry into my room, I'm not instantly overwhelmed with where to put it. My bed is made so I can lay as much laundry as needed on it. I can tackle the task at hand without any other issues. When I walk into my room throughout the day, even if my room isn't 100% neat, a made bed seems to make it feel a million times cleaner than the latter. And finally, when it's the end of the day and I am completely exhausted, slipping into a bed that is neatly made just makes me feel instantly relaxed. And even if the sheets are freshly washed, they just seem cleaner.

2. WAKE UP BEFORE YOUR CHILDREN - Now this one may not be possible for some. If you are already lacking sleep due to a new baby, then this one is not for you. But if you are a person who goes to bed late, or just likes to sleep in, I highly suggest changing your habits. Being able to have that morning cup of coffee without interruption is amazing and sets the mood for the entire day.

3. DO NOT GO TO BED WITH A DIRTY KITCHEN - This could apply to any room in the house, or every room in the house. For me, I like to make sure the living room is picked up but especially that the kitchen is clean. My mood is completely different if I wake up to the dishes already done and the counter tops wiped down. Then the only thing I need to worry about is making my coffee and unloading the dishwasher.

4. EXERCISE - I understand that everyone is different and for some, exercise just isn't for them. But even adding some kind of physical activity into your daily lifestyle will help boost your mood. Play outside with your kids, go for a daily or nightly walk after dinner with the family. It doesn't have to seem like a workout for it to feel good. I assure you, it'll help tremendously. You may think you feel good now but physical activity will make you feel even better.

5. LISTEN TO MUSIC - This one always changes my mood instantly. If I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed, which seems to be constantly once I became a mother, I like to jam out with my daughter. But I also like to take a break from the 'Trolls Soundtrack' and 'Moana' tunes and listen to songs that are for a little bit older crowd, even though my boyfriend tells me my music interests are that of a 14-year old haha (no shame). One of my favorite ways to unwind without interrupting my family's mantra is to listen to music with headphones on. It gives me a little break from the outside world. Sudio Sweden is my favorite brand of wireless earbuds to use (discount code below). Not only are they stylish but they block the outside noise which is every mom's relaxation miracle.

They have the controls right on them which makes them easy to use while working out too. They come with 5 different sized inserts which makes them compatible for literally everyone, even my little babe can use them on car rides.

Charging them is super simple too. The plug-in is compatible with any USB. I also love that they come with a protective case. Not only does it keep them from getting scratched up, but I can keep the headphones and small cord from getting lost in my purse.
